Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)

IPOS has a Mettler TGA/DSC 1 Star system capable of providing quantitative information on the composition and thermal stability of samples from ambient to 1500oC. The accurate TG information is supplemented by heat flow information enabling the instrument to detect thermal events not accompanied by a mass change, such as, melting, glass transitions etc. Application areas where the TGA/DSC can be used include:

  • Quantitative content analysis e.g. moisture, inorganic fillers etc.
  • Thermal stability.
  • Glass transitions.
  • Heat capacity.

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

IPOS has Mettler 882 and 821 DSC systems enabling the fast, sensitive and quantitative measuring of thermal properties of samples across a working temperature range of -50oC to 600oC. Application areas where the DSC can be used include:

  • Melting behaviour.
  • Curing.
  • Polymorphism.
  • Glass transitions.
  • Purity.
